There were 460 members and guests in attendance at the 2008 Annual Meeting.

Duo County Telephone Cooperative members began filing through the doors of Russell County High School on Tuesday night June 10th, for the 2008 Duo County Telephone Annual Meeting.

Duo County members rapidly filled the air-conditioned gymnasium and received a welcoming gift coffee mug. Popcorn and drink in hand, members and their guests were eager to hear about Duo County’s new packages and promotions, as well as what technological advances the company will be making throughout the year.

The Cooperatives Legal Counsel, H.K. Cooper had the pleasure of calling the 2008 Annual Meeting to order in front of 460 excited Duo County members and their guests. After the introduction of Duo County’s Trustees, CEO Bill Magruder updated the audience with the executive report, followed by the re-election of trustees James E. Monin of Jamestown and Joseph E. Sparks of Adair County, Old Business and New Business.

Following an announcement of Annual Meeting night specials, such as Duo County’s Triple Play Bundle, which includes cable, Internet and telephone, Eric West, Duo County Director of Marketing, and a young lady from the audience began drawing members’ names for door prizes.

  • High speed internet comes to Jamestown Marina and Resort

    jamestown marina

Now you can go surfin’ at Jamestown Marina and Resort. Not with a board of course, but with high speed Internet access now available from Duo County Telephone.

Jamestown, one of four marinas in Russell County, has seen a huge increase in demand for Internet access from its customers according to Mark VonFumetti, manager with the facility. “We worked with Eric (West) and Kerry (Flatt) to set up and install the service,” says VonFumetti. “At every step during the process, Duo County was very responsive to our needs.”
For over two months now, the marina has offered high speed Internet service to customers in the lodge rooms, and according to VonFumetti, their guests are very happy to have the new service.

Between 300 and 350 of the boat slips have access to DSL or cable modem, as well as phone service and digital cable. Slip users are charged monthly and there is a small fee for lodge guests. The only requirement is that guests have their laptop or personal computer and a computer card.

  • Live broadcasting of local sporting events comes to Duo County Telecom

    Duo County Broadcast Football Tower

A special tower was constructed to enable live video telecasting of football games from the Russell County Football field.

Duo County Telephone began live telecasts of home Russell County Mighty Laker basketball and the high school graduation ceremony last year in an effort to bring local programming to a new level. Channel 2 on Duo County Telecom has always been a great tool for area business to promote their business as well as public service announcements, local church broadcast and now live coverage of Mighty Laker home football games.

These telecasts wouldn't be possible without our broadcast partners WJRS/WJKY radio and area businesses such as Bennett's Carpet, Bank of Jamestown, South Ky RECC and Bluegrass Cellular sponsoring the production.
We believe this will provide a new level of local entertainment to our cable offering, support the local high school events and bring the community closer together with local programming.
Duo County telephone will continue to look at ways this new medium can benefit the community.
